1. A Makurdi High Court has sentenced the two surviving kidnappers and murderers of Fr John Adeyi to death by hanging. Father Adeyi, the Vicar General of Catholic Diocese of Otukpo and Parish Priest of Catholic Church Okpoga, was in 2016 kidnapped by unknown gunmen. He was later found dead. In a verdict on Wednesday, the court found the two surviving suspects guilty and handed them death by hanging.

2. A coalition of Benue youths comprising of over forty groups Wednesday prevented Governor Samuel Ortom from attending a scheduled meeting with the All Progressives Congress, APC, National leadership in Abuja. The Governor was leaving the Government House, Makurdi for the trip when they blocked his route carrying placards, and insisting that he should discontinue further discussion with the APC. Ortom eventually turned back.

3. Almost immidiately after he was turned back by the angry youths, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP.

4. The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba Wednesday ordered that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Moshood Salvador, and 10 others should be remanded in prison custody. The judge gave the order following their alleged involvement in the murder of the party chairman in Apapa Local Government Area of the state, Adeniyi Aborishade.

5. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the defection of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom from the Party. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ruling APC described Ortom’s political move on Wednesday as “somewhat surprising.” The Party expressed optimisim that reconcilliation was still possible despite Ortom’s decision.

6. Boko Haram’s factional leader, Abubakar Shekau, has re-emerged in a new video after a long absence that fuelled speculation about his health and ability to lead the Islamist militants. In a 36-minute message, released to the media through Ahmad Salkida, Shekau looked unwell but made no reference to his health condition. He, however, said his group was losing the war because most of them had derailed from Islamic teachings.

7. A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Tuesday granted an interim bail to Alhaji Yusuf Abdulwahab, the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed, in the sum of N10million. Abdulwahab has been held in police custody in Abuja since June 2, 2018 after he responded to Police invitation over his alleged link with suspects who carried out robbery attacks on commercial banks in Offa on April 5, 2018.
Hon. Justice M.O. Adewara granted the bail after carefully considering the oral application for bail made on behalf of the governor’s aide by his counsel, Mr. Adebayo Adelodun (SAN).

8. Nigeria’s Senate President, Bukola Saraki has hinted that he will soon leave the All Progressives Congress (APC). Saraki made this remark while speaking to Reuters.
When asked about leaving the ruling party, he said “the chances are very, very high”.

9. The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, on Wednesday, called for an immediate expulsion of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki. He hinged his reason on anti-party activities of the lawmaker. Nabena in a statement, a day after 15 senators and some members of the House of Representatives left the APC, accused Saraki of being in cahoots with the defectors.

10. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday declared President Muhammadu Buhari as the common enemy of Nigeria.
They made the declaration when the National Publicity Secretary of the SDP, Princess Goldba Tolofari, paid a courtesy visit to her PDP counterpart, Kola Ologbodiyan at the national secretariat of the former ruling party in Abuja.
