Kofi Annan’s body touches down in Accra today
The remains of former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, will arrive in Ghana on Monday ahead of the official state burial this week.
The body of the late Secretary-General will be accompanied his wife, Nane Maria, children and some UN officials.
The remains will be received with a brief ceremony led by the Ghana Armed Forces and President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
It will then be moved to the Accra International Conference Centre from the Airport.
The public will be allowed to file past and pay their last respect at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
On Thursday, a solemn Burial Service and final interment will be held.
The service will be attended by UN Officials, Heads of State, Diplomatic delegations and the general public.
There will also be a private burial at midday on Thursday at the Military Cemetery with full military honours and a 17-gun salute.
