1. The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram, has executed Hauwa Leman, an aid worker with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Report claims that the terrorists also promised to keep Leah Sharibu, one of the Dapchi schoolgirls who is currently in their custody, as a slave for life.
2. The murderer of the personnel of Directorate of Security Service (DSS) Mr. Michael Orusede has been arrested by a vigilante group in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State. Mr. Orusede was stabbed to death while trying to disarm an irate gunman on Thursday in Sankwala, headquarters of Obanliku LGA. The suspect identified as Emmanuel Kpongkpong escaped to Cameroon but was arrested in the Bomaji mountain in Boki LGA.
3. The Federal Government has said it is shocked and saddened at the killing of another aid worker by Boko Haram on Monday, despite the actions taken by the government and the widespread appeal to save the young woman. In a statement issued in London on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, described the killing as dastardly, inhuman and ungodly, saying nothing can justify the shedding of the
blood of innocent people.
4. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has been appointed as the Director General of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council. Similarly, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has been appointed as the Zonal Coordinator for North West while his counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo was appointed the Zonal Coordinator for North East. This was disclosed in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary,Kola Ologbondiyan.
5. A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has promised to accompany a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday. He disclosed this at the send-off dinner organized to mark the exit of the Ekiti State governor.

The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that he would be at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today with his bedclothes, pillowcase, English and Yoruba bibles. Fayose whose tenure expired midnight of Monday said he was prepared for whatever would be the outcome of his meeting with the commission over the alleged N1.3bn he received from the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA in the last government.
7. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday reacted to the possibility of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo returning to its fold almost four years after quitting his membership of the party. Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, in a statement, said the former president’s endorsement of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate was not an indication that he had returned to the party, but that if Obasanjo decides to join the PDP today, a new membership card will be issued to him immediately.
8. A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Olisa Agbakoba, has opined that President Muhammadu Buhari will lose his re-election bid in 2019. Agbakoba anchored his claim on the fact that under Buhari’s leadership, Nigeria was now “broken politically, strategically, morally, and completely bankrupt.”

10. The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has said that it would be suicidal if President Muhammadu Buhari returns to power in 2019. Tambuwal, who was one of the 12 presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alleged that Buhari was not in charge of the country. Tambuwal claimed that the President runs the country by proxy.
